Important Announcement: Upcoming Changes

Dear Customers,

We want to start by thanking you for your trust and loyalty over the past 10 years while we perfected our database design tool. In the past 10 years, our developers have worked hard to build a full featured online database designer with advanced capabilities and features which are far superior than all of our competitors. We are very proud of the work by our development team and we thank you all very much for offering us valuable feedback and helping us in growing our user base to more than 170,000 users which includes some of the largest and most prestigious organizations (US Military, NASA, Several Fortune 500 companies, Hundreds of Governments and Hundreds of Universities and other institutes)

During this time, we offered our paid plans at a significant discount. Additionally, we never enforced the actual restrictions so all of you enjoyed unlimited and full access to our tool even in a “Free” account.

We offered you all full access absolutely free because we wanted to get actual feedback from heavy users to make necessary improvements and introduce new features. During this time, our entire focus has been on the features and ensuring that our product or tool is able to handle the complex requirements of all users including large organizations and enterprises.

In the past 10 years, our user base has grown tremendously and to accommodate the complex needs of users of all sizes, we have made significant investment in development. Due to the increasing needs of our users and requests for advanced features, we have to make additional investment in growing our development team. We have decided that the time is right for us to enforce our plan restrictions on all users to encourage them to upgrade. We want to ensure you are informed in advance and that you completely understand the upcoming changes so please review the information below in detail.

What is changing?

DB Designer will be enforcing the plan restrictions listed on our Pricing page starting November 15th 2018.

Until November 15th 2018

You will continue to enjoy full and unlimited access.

After November 15th 2018

You will no longer be able to enjoy unlimited access unless you upgrade your plan. If you have a free account, you will be limited to only 2 Database Models/Projects and up-to 10 Tables per Model/Project only.

Important Questions and Answers

Here is a list of frequently asked questions. If you have a question you cannot find an answer to, please feel free to contact our support at [email protected] and we’ll reply to your email right away.

What happens to my current work?

You will not lose access to your projects, schemas, tables or any other work that you already have saved but you will no longer be able to save changes to your existing projects unless they are under the limits of free plan. If you already have more than 2 database models in your account, you will not be able to create new database models unless you delete and remove your old models. If you try to exceed the limits of your free plan, you will be shown an error and asked to upgrade your account.

I am unhappy with this decision and do not plan to upgrade my account?

We are sorry but we hope that you will reconsider your decision. Please take a look at our competitors and you will find that either they lack the important features our tool offers or their pricing is significantly higher than ours. We are offering you the opportunity to upgrade at 50% discount and we guarantee that none of our competitors will be able to match our features and pricing. If you have already made up your mind, we encourage you to do the following:

Save your current projects and export your models in all the formats which you may need in future. Your account information and all your work will be kept safe on our servers but we highly recommend you make necessary backups.

I cannot afford to pay but I really need to to continue using DB Designer. What are my options?

If you cannot afford to pay us to upgrade your account despite the 50% discount we are offering, we have several opportunities for you to get free access. Please visit https://www.dbdesigner.net/blog/opportunities-to-earn-free-upgrade-to-our-paid-plans—4 for a list of special circumstances and opportunities you can use to get free access.

What are your plans for the future?

We are glad you asked. We have secretly been working on making significant upgrades to our application. The list of projects and features planned for this release have grown so significantly that we have decided to release a brand new version in beta to ensure it is well tested in a live environment before we force users to switch to the new version. Keep an eye out for our email and blog updates to get more details but for now, please visit the link below for a brief overview of what we have planned for release within next 2-3 weeks.
